Abstract submission

How do I submit a proposal for the symposium?

Participants can apply by completing the submission form and sending it to hcias-symposium@uni-heidelberg.de

Where can I find guidelines for the abstract?

The guidelines for the abstract can be found in the abstract submission page.

When will I be notified if my abstract has been accepted?

You will be notified of the advisory committee’s decision on July 14, 2025.

What language should I use to write the abstract?

You should write your abstract proposal in English.

Registration

When do I register for the symposium?

Registration will start after the notification of acceptance of proposals on July 14 and will be open until September 30, 2025.

Contributions

How long should my presentation be?

Presentations should be no more than 15 minutes in length.

How will presentations be organized?

Presentations will be organized in panels of four presentations followed by a 30 minute discussion session.

How will the poster session be organized?

Posters will be presented in an extra session. Display boards will be provided.

Travel and venue

How can I travel to Heidelberg?

Participants may travel to Heidelberg by plane, train, or bus. International airports are Frankfurt Airport and Stuttgart Airport. The Heidelberg Central Railway Station is close to the city center.

How do I get to the International Academic Forum Heidelberg (IWH)?

Numerous transportation options available to reach the venue:

Departing from Heidelberg Central Railway Station (Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof) heading towards Heidelberg-Altstadt:

  • Suburban railroad lines S1, S2, and S5. Stop: Heidelberg-Altstadt. From there it is only a short 6-minute walk (500m).

Departing from Heidelberg Central Railway Station:

  • Bus line 20 heading towards Bf Altstadt – Stop: Neckarmünzplatz. From there it is only a short 4-minute walk (290m).
  • Bus line 35 heading towards Neckargemünd, Bildungszentrum – Stop: Neckarmünzplatz. From there it is only a short 4-minute walk (290m).
  • Bus line 34 heading towards Wilhelmsfeld or Ziegelhausen, Heidebuckelweg – Stop: Hirschgasse. From there it is only a short 5-minute walk (400m).
